Mom moved to another country . Some thirty years ago , or so , she started calling me , by my cousins' names . Eventually , I realized she most likely had Alzheimers . Since she lived so far away , I didn't see her frequently , so seemed to notice the changes more than those who saw her daily . To the best of my knowledge , there are no current cures . However , there are pills available , which can slow the progress of this long term , incurable disease . I also think there may be a family genetic element to this disease . If you seem to have a problem with remembering things , go to your own doctor and be tested , and if needed take the pills .
