Hm. Sounds like the purpose of the universe is actually self-termination and "discovering the purpose" of the universe is just the voice command to activate the self-destruct

Or perhaps the day will come when mankind becomes truly enlightened, brings an end to war, famine, pestilence and pollution, life will be a paradise and the world a utopia.
At which point everything will stop and in the sky in huge glowing letter will appear the epistle
