Does anyone else find it a bit condescending that some people can have no interest in you because you don't have a " college education"?

I think it could be thought of as a selective short cut.

Is it condescending? Yes
Will it produce false negatives? Yes

And in this large world you will find people that will accept those constraints for the convienece a short cut provides.

The same as "do you wear a suit and tie?"

Yes. Definitely.

I've known a few people in my life with degrees who've struck me as being not very intelligent, and I have a friend who's working towards a law degree who's one of the most intelligent people I know.

Some people weren't able to go to college, some felt no need for college. Does this make me better than a high school drop-out? Hell no. People are people, no more no less.
Some folks are cut out for career military (Non Commissioned Officers), some are good with factory work, some are lumber jacks. Even though I was lucky enough to be able to attend some college classes (129 credit hours, had to change majors due to physical restrictions) that makes me no better or smarter than the average person. I grew up poor, lived poor and still am poor; my only advantage is my mind. Test scores say I am brighter than the average person, but this is measured on whose yardstick? I get the greatest enjoyment explaining something to someone in a way they can understand. I don't talk down to them or talk over their heads, I would feel like an ass doing that.
I try to share the wonder of knowledge not keep it to myself.

They are not worthy of your time.

"I'm Not A Juvenile Delinquent"

No-no-no-no-no-no-no-no
No-no-no-no-no-no-no-no
No-no-no, I'm not a juvenile delinquent
Do the things that's right
And you'll do nothing wrong
Life will be so nice, you'll be in paradise
I know, because I'm not a juvenile delinquent

But listen boys and girls
You need not be blue
And life is what you make of it
It all depends on you
I know, because I'm not a juvenile delinquent

It's easy to be good, it's hard to be bad
Stay out of trouble, and you be glad
Take this tip from me, and you will see
How happy you will be
Oh-oh, boys and girls, this is my story
And I add all of my glory
I know, because I'm not a juvenile delinquent

It's easy to be good, it's hard to be bad
Stay out of trouble, and you be glad
Take this tip from me, and you will see
How happy you will be
Oh-oh, boys and girls, this is my story
And I add all of my glory
I know, because I'm not a juvenile delinquent

No-no-no

Oh ! I just read through this thread. It seems that some of these threads come a bit close to 'flaming;" thats an old internet term for personal impoliteness.
In my limited school age schooling I discovered that 'Inverted snobbery' is snobbish too.
Anyhow I HAVE appreciated all which I read.

Peoplle have an interest in one another because we find each other interesting.
College education is mainly college credentialling, which does not necessarilly co-relate to knowledgeable.
OOh look Ive made 3 spelling errors; I'm going to leave them in.

I think that those who are college educated have a certain expectation of others who are abs are not. I think, generally, that there is a difference in experience and campus-educated graduates have been exposed to a lot of diversity and higher level thought. I think they’re just looking to connect with someone in their level and find it with someone who isn’t.

Life & relationships are like math...you are the constant, events/people are the variable & you have your outcome.

If the variables change outcome is always shit, the problem isn't with the variables.

Sounds like another way of saying 'If one person calls you an ass, ignore them. If five people call you an ass, buy an saddle'. It sounds clever but it doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

@brentan it does hold up to scrutiny in many situations. If one choose people who like party, live in the moment, avoid responsibility, let tomorrow take care of itself, etc then is upset because there is no permanence in their relationships, its because they are choosing the wrong type of person/ qualities.
