St Patrick's Day, because i'm Irish! ??????

I do it for nationalistic or cultural reasons, I am not altogether against the church, many of them do much good work. I simply am not prepared to confuse mythology with fact. One is provable the other is a fabrication. Look at Hindus, 800,000,000 and almost none of them believe the story to be factual. At some point the judeo-christian tradition will also adopt a similar stance and maybe peace will flourish.

I like a good parade. The Halloween Parade in NYC is fantastic. I marched in a few hundred parades and St. Patricks Day and the weeks before and after always were a good time.

I celebrate Halloween. Every year. Fight me.

I hate the walking around. But the candy worth it.

If it were entirely up to me, I would not celebrate commercial holidays, especially Xmas. But, I do exchange gifts (one each) with my girlfriends so as not to look like a complete Scrooge. Fortunately, they like to keep it pretty low key. To me, Xmas is just another day, but religious people go crazy!

Never cared for holidays much, just another day to me.

Thanksgiving Day is the only one for me. That is a family day more than anything else.

New Years Eve/Day, Superbowl, Valentine's day, St. Patrick's day, Easter, Earthday, Mayday, Mother's day, Memorial Day, Flag day, Father's day, Fourth of July, Labor day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas... I think that about covers the 'holidays' we observe with the exception of the Olympic opening ceremonies for which we usually do a themed dinner and birthdays.

I celebrate major holidays because I get the day off paid. What I do with the time off is my business.

Generally, no. Not any more than any other day.
I do get a buzz and go out to see lights and stuff, but no trees, dinners, etc.

Define celebrate and commercial holiday. I just returned from visiting my mother in NYC. I called the mother of my children and about to do the rounds with my sisters. I texted a few mothers that happened to be my friends.

I love holidays. Especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. I grew up in a huge Irish Catholic family. Those holidays were a time of family and great joy at being together.
Although 6 out of the 8 kids are now atheist we all still enjoy these holidays. Granted as the years have gone by the religious traditions have faded into other things but we still love big and its always a welcome time for us.
Easter is just about the bunny, eggs, candy and new clothes.
But I do understand a lot of people don't feel this way.

Oh plus my birthday is Christmas. Lol
