I don't know much about Newark, but Manhattan has much more varied menu. From Times Square 42nd and 5th Ave, walk south on 5th which will take you past all the Window Scenes till you hit Washington Square which is the beginning of Greenwich Village. Their is a newspaper which is Free and you will see boxes all over the city "Village Voice" In it will tell you whats going on, how much and where it is. From Greenwich Village your still going south into SoHo, then Canal Street which is where Chinatown, Little Italy which is getting smaller every year and then Battery Park where you can take the Staten Island Ferry for a ride. It may be still free, I moved 6 years ago so I'm a bit rusty. You won't be disappointed.
I work in Newark and the only thing I would recommend is going to fournos for dinner in the ironbound section. The food is great and there’s a lot. In Brooklyn there is a David Bowie exhibit but you need tickets ahead of time. Manhattan has everything. What do you like to do?

Well I’m going to the Prudential Center on Saturday night.I figured Saturday daytime I’d shoot over to Manhattan and Brooklyn and just take in the sights and geology, observe the city planning and urbanization.
So many things to see. I like the sights and sounds downtown. Chinatown is fun to walk around. Hope you like crowds
@jab60 eh, crowds suck, but I can take them short term.
It really depends on what you like to do. Catch a Broadway show, go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I don't know anything good to do in Newark beyond getting on a plane to go somewhere else.
I’m going to the Misfits show at the Prudential Center in Newark
I thought it was No Sleep till Hammersmith. Wasn't that a Motorhead song?
