This is sickening: The EPA is moving to allow polluters to contaminate our drinking water with pollutants like diesel, gasoline, heavy metals, and other waste. And we only have less than a week left to speak out.

Time to stop these FASCIST republican tom pruitt from ruining and poisoning all our water and waterways!

Scott Pruitt is trying to create a loophole for Big Polluters to contaminate our water. If he succeeds, our children's drinking water could soon be at risk.

Here's what's happening: Some of the nation's biggest polluters are angling to create a loophole in the Clean Water Act that would free them of any responsibility for pollution that enters our surface water through groundwater. In other words, if they dump harmful waste and it flows through groundwater into our streams, rivers, and lakes — and thus compromising our drinking water and our health — they want zero responsibility. It's outrageous.

This is yet another Big Polluter handout by the Trump administration at the expense of our public health. But our water is far too important to let them get away with it. The EPA is accepting feedback on this plan through next Monday, so we need to act quickly.

For decades, the EPA has worked to keep pollution out of our waterways, whether it is dumped there directly or travels there through another pathway. This leaves Big Polluters on the hook for the damage they cause, so now they're looking to Scott Pruitt to blow a giant hole through the Clean Water Act.

Horrifically, we've seen time and again the damage that polluted water can create in a community. The water crisis in Flint, Michigan, is a terrible reminder that drinking water isn't something to be gambled with. And low-income communities and communities of color can be hit the hardest when water is compromised. While we continue the fight for clean water for everyone, we absolutely cannot let Scott Pruitt's EPA create a brand new loophole to make polluting our drinking water easier.

Here's the good news, Ronald: This is a fight we know how to win. LCV has been working to guarantee the strongest water protections for all of our communities for decades. With LCV members like you, we recently stopped the Senate from creating a loophole in the Clean Water Act that would have exempted the shipping industry and allowed them to release more invasive species in our waterways, like the Great Lakes. We can see wins like this again.

Access to clean water is a basic human right. And ensuring our lakes, streams, and rivers are free of toxic pollution is absolutely critical to our fight for a safe, healthy environment. We can fend off Big Polluters, protect the Clean Water Act, and save our clean water — but we have to act now.
