Thoughts on Confucianism??
Confucianism and Buddaism are related more to how we live on Earth with nature. Going to heaven is not a consideration. The test of a real person is how well he/she deals with all the pain and suffering we all experience while navigating our lives. That's my opinion, anyway. Just saying....
I don't know if it's anything like Taoism, which seems to be based on an ethos of passive selfishness and acceptance of everything.
social value system, that like all social value systems, breaks under stress of 2018.
In 500 BCE, Confucius was saying that if you don't want it done to you, don't do it to others. That IS the Golden Rule, and he was spreading the word 500 years before what's-his-name. Confucianism is a social and ethical philosophy, not a religion.
Actually it is the Silver Rule. The golden rule is positive, i.e. DO unto others where the silver rule is negative, i.e. DO NOT DO unto others. Christianity is the only one to use the positive and all others use the negative. Please correct me if I am wrong.
@jlynn37 It was my understanding that the term "Silver Rule" was coined by Christians in an attempt to devalue the teachings of Confucius in comparison to their own. These are the same people who chose to celebrate the birth of their savior in December (whereas their holy book indicates that he was born in the springtime), in an effort to overshadow the pagan Solstice holidays.
the golden rule is " whomever owns the gold makes the rules !"
Confucius never did polls so why polls do confucius?
