The front yard of my home in Warrensburg, Missouri while I was stationed at Whiteman AFB was covered with dandelions. They were quite delicious. The key was to ensure that you washed them thoroughly cause you never knew if some critter or neighbor's pet may have urinated on them.

I've eaten the leaves in salad. And I think we used to dry the root, grind it up and make a coffee substitute.
(Back in the early 80's when we thought the world was about to descend into a nuclear holocaust and we were learning survival skills)

Scandanavians cultivated them: cover a patch with straw, uncover in early spring. That was their first vitamin C of the year. Hmmm. maybe I'll plant a plot.

My lawn has too many dandilions and I am allergic to pollen from them. Can never think about consuming them.

Looks exactly like the dandelions depicted in the Google search. It they aren't dandelions, please enlighten us to what they are.
