I'm trying to understand your comment, Vam, but notice my posting is not really about "illegal immigration." My remarks about how to get into political activism are not even about immigration. What I am addressing here is the totally batshit crazy reactions of many if they simply hear someone speaking Spanish or another language. I set the stage in telling the story to my insurance lady because I knew deep down that she would think I was going to go crazy on this lady over the language issue just like others on TV or the Internet have done. It also shows the position my insurance lady holds. This is why she started laughing.

There could be a thousand reasons this lady I talked with does not speak English. The obvious one is that she has not learned the language. I'm not the ICE informer or the language police. These are the tactics of Nazi Germany. I do not know anything about the lady I talked to in the store that day and it's not my job to assume anything. She might be a communist. For all I know she is atheist. Maybe secretly. Maybe if we can get a crowd gathered around her we could water board her and find out.

I brought my own (now ex) wife here from Kenya and I did all her paperwork. Today she is a US citizen. There was never a "set of papers" that she was supposed to carry with her at all times. As far as I know this has not changed over 12 years later. Such ideas make good movie fodder and also play right along with the extreme right. Some of this is turning average Americans into idiots today.

Illegal removal is all I’ve got in common with trump & friends. More of an ‘enforce existing laws’ concern. Illegal immigration threatens the stability of most advanced nations. I witnessed it’s ‘creep’ on the west coast of the US. Ignoring - then rewarding illegal behavior invites more, and it has.

Once politically involved in a rural county in Oregon, it shocked me how many Democrats (I’d say half) were extremely concerned about the continued illegal immigration/ amnesty going on but “Felt we couldn’t say anything against it because we’re Democrats.” Obama signed an ‘executive amnesty,’ and Hillary & Bernie were for ‘open borders’ … leaving the R’s (yet again) to suck in the votes of those most adversely affected by this tide..

It’s why he’s President, in my eyes.. And if the Dems continue to treat it as a pet issue, they’ll continue to lose races they shouldn’t … and everything goes to ‘ell ~
