Shit - Tripped tonight over a flower pot on my porch while coming home and almost fell. I know I have osteoarthritis in my left hip but damn! This really aggravated it. Didn't really trip because of the hip but now I can hardly walk.

I don't think of myself as old but this tends to be evidence to the contrary. I hope it feels better tomorrow 'cause it's bad.

Oh yeh, I was walking from one room to the other and tripped over the cord on my cordless phone.

I'm sure the flower pot jumped in front of you. Rest and take something to reduce the inflammation and I'm sure you'll feel better tomorrow.

Yes, I woke up feeling much much better. Instead of wondering if I need an immediate visit to the Dr.'s office, I'm wondering if I still need the cane. (The answer is yes but it isn't essential like it was last night.)

Yes, I think it was just inflammation. I must have twisted it the wrong way.

@marmot84 I'm glad to hear you're feeling better today!

Thanks everyone! I'm feeling marginally better. I've figured out how to walk slowly with my cane. I hope it is just a zinged nerve and will quiet down by tomorrow.

And to think I began the day thinking I was walking way better with much less hip pain.

I'm reminded of a Grateful Dead song lyric: "When life looks like easy street there is danger at your door!" Uncle John's Band is the name of the song I think.

Here, I'll post a link:

Just remember to use the opposite foot with the cane.

@Annaleda Learned that almost immediately!

@marmot84
I’ve had to use a cane for about four years. I felt so awkward at first. Especially in public. I felt everyone was looking at me. And I was so jerky and faltering in the beginning. 🙂 Now I’m a pro. It’s almost a part of me and my gait has evened out. Hang in there. You’ve got this!

Dang. I'm glad you didn't fall. I hope you heal up fast.
