I had an exchange with preacher Matt Powell. He not only lied but tried to cover it up when I called him out on it! Here is the YouTube video I made about the exchange. Do you think I was to harsh? How wolud you have handled it?

Hey David. No, I don't think you were too harsh if everything you're saying about Matt is true. I could see how irritated you might have become. And you're right, the bible is just a book. When I was in ministry (at least my later years), I really hope that I wasn't like Matt. I don't think I was as I did try to be fair and understand where people with other faiths or with no faith at all stood on issues and/or views of life. You can see where Matt is at even in the clipped piece you posted. He's frustrated that he can't make more logical arguments to make his point. He knows it's just a matter of faith and there is no tangible evidence for his belief. He wishes there was. I did too when I was "walking with Christ" and evangelizing. It was just a matter of faith and that's all there is to the belief in a higher power. You may as well believe in Poseidon for the angry sea. It's the same thing.

Interestingly he left a comment. "I fully approve of this video." I don't know where this is going but I hope to communicate with him. Interestingly he put out a video today, after i released mine, that shows that he did enguage three atheist including Bionic Dance just a few days ago on the non sequitur show. It baffles me, why he did what he did in our exchange.

@DavidLaDeau That's encouraging. It could simply have been a misunderstanding or miscommunication between you two. 1 Peter 3:15-16 tells Christians, "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander." As a pastor, he should be willing to engage anyone on why he believes what he does. This scripture is why I always questioned my faith and this questioning is eventually what led me out. Please bear this in mind when you engage with him. He is probably very rooted in the faith. Try asking him questions and let his answers hang himself. If you try to put the noose around his neck, he might politely disengage with you because he feels he's being trapped. We're much more willing to go into a trap on our own. If he's truly following 1 Peter 3:15-16, he'll eventually find his way out. Good luck.

@SamHarrisFan It was not a miscommunication when he deleted the comments section only where I made the challenge or when he deleted where he said that atheist backed out on debates. The mystery is why he did not simlpy site that he had actually spoken to atheist. I will do my best to cultavate a relationship as fighting does no good.
