Their religious beliefs becomes their "ID". It a becomes a personnel attack on them. The id is an important part of their personality because as newborns, it allows us to get our basic needs met. Freud believed that the id is based on our pleasure principle. In other words, the id wants whatever feels good at the time, with no consideration for the reality of the situation.

Religious people, even in other religions still believe in things without logic or fact. Atheists pretty much use intelligence and logic to decipher truth and think religious people are stupid. They know we think they are stupid and will take offense far more than another religion
