Pictures. I hate posting pictures online. I have some weird tribal anxiety about pictures of me. Don't worry. I'm aware that it's completely irrational.

But here's the thing. I don't want to meet someone online because of my picture. I'm not hiding anything. I'm reasonable to look at, a healthy weight, etc. It's just that I want my next relationship to be about something more. I'm in my late forties. I won't get better looking. In my marriage, I always had this fear that my husband would dump me the minute I started looking old.

I want a best friend, someone I can laugh with, someone I can share experiences with, and most importantly, someone I can count on, that I can be weak with. I honestly don't think I've ever had that, romantic or otherwise.

Sorry, just venting into the void. I guess my point is that I won't post pictures of me. If I meet someone online, we're going to have to be able to hold each other's interest enough to become friends first. Someone asked, so I thought I'd mention it.

Anyone else weird like me?

I think it's great to connect with people based on something other than physical attraction. I post a lot of pictures of my plants and pets on the social interaction websites that I use. Also, the people who share my life and adventures. I also post photos of myself but I am not actively using any sites to find potential romantic partners.

Yep. I'm very weird. And thank goodness. No photo = no pervs. I am not looking. Good luck if you are. I believe "he " is not out there for me.

I hope there is something more. I post my photos in spite of being very old, balding and somewhere south of handsome. If the she still bites, it isn't because I am fishing with an artificial lure.

I don't think you are weird. I only have pics of my feet from my many wilderness adventures (I'm weirder than you). I'm always behind the camera. I hear you about the deeper relationship, but unfortunately, if there is no physical attraction, then the relationship remains in the friend zone. Personally, I would rather have it stay in the friend zone.

It's good that you did post this, if enough people read it. Personally, on dating sites, I tend to pass over women who don't post a picture, not because it's horribly important, but because I figure either they're hiding something, or just can't be bothered. But this site is different. I forget all about the dating aspect on here, I just get into talking. So hi.

Interesting that you said that. Men on dating sites who are serious about dating should know something about the female experience. There are a lot of guys that think that lurid messages are attractive. I'm not a prude by any means, but they're creepy. It's like guys that send dick pictures. I just want to respond with "you really don't know anything about women, do you?"

Anyway, your comment made me think of that, and it's another reason I don't post pictures of myself. The minute I do, I get creepy messages, and I'm really here more for the community than anything else.

So post a photo of your dog. Most guys like dogs.
