"You have to stand proudly for the National Anthem or you shouldn't be playing. You shouldn't be there. Maybe you shouldn't be in the country," Trump said recently.

Those that make peaceful protest impossible make violent revolution inevitable.

As a Marine Corps Veteran, I respect a players right to peaceful protest. It’s not like they’re burning the flag on the 50 yard line.

Also remember that most of the teams never came out for the anthem until the military started to pay for it.

They weren't made illegal here. The NFL simply passed a rule on it's employees (players). The players couldn't be arrested if they didn't do it. Not that I agree with the decision, but let's not oversell this.

It should be encouraged. A high-profile peaceful demonstration is something to be applauded, not fined. Agree or not, it is a good way of getting the message out there.

The public should be kissing the ground that the protest is peaceful.

Americans forget that white players took a knee to protest the KKK lynching blacks back in the 1950's, everyone thought they were great guys for doing it. Could be a pigmentation thing and if it is I hope that the 80% of black players call in sick next Sunday so the bigots can enjoy their game.

If someone "taking a knee" offends you, you're wound up entirely too tightly :\

@TampaHeathen You're correct, the American First Amendment grants us the right to peaceful assembly and protest. Sadly the problem is that so many people think a silent protest during the anthem is a sign of blatant disrespect for America bordering on being un-patriotic..... but many like myself see that as the very meaning of patriotism.
