The British Conservative government's austerity policies have killed at least 120,000 people - mostly the sick and disabled. Read about some of the victims at [calumslist.org]
I've witnessed some of the suffering first hand and I know of two young people, at a homelessness charity I once volunteered with, who killed themselves.
Ken Loach's film 'I, Daniel Blake' captures the new, deliberately cruel benefits sanctions culture foisted upon us and my heart goes out to David Brown (see link at the bottom of the page) who killed himself because he felt belittled by the system.
Exactly why this 'sanctions' culture is so cruel is explained in this link:

Apologies. There is a lot of information in this post, but to finish, this screenshot exposes the inhumanity, so prevalent in contemporary politics. Polly MacKenzie's tweets make my blood run cold:
Austerity was to cut the national debt, not pass it on to the future genarations and to stabalize the enconamy to promote growth.Westminster has not paid on penny to the debt,in fact it has doubled to One Trillion Pounds. All services are underfund, under staffed. The cost of living has exceed wages, their are people that work that have to claim benefits to survive. There are foodbanks giving out free food to the elderly & unemployed. The national health sevice is relying on support from private medicine, agency Nurses who get paid more than NHS Nurses. It's a shambles, the people making money is the rich.Energy banks are the latest, giving out vouchers for free electricity & gas to eldely & unemployed.
Fuck, Tories and Republicans are pretty much the same disgusting beast, aren't they?
Republicans are far worse as far as I can see.
Tories are not far from establishment Democrats.
@Gareth yeah, now that I think on it. Fuuuuuuck.
