Just thinking how irrational it is that Christians think they're monotheists when they acknowledge there's a devil who has god-like powers. Then you have the Catholics who believe in hundreds (if not thousands) of saints who also have miraculous capabilities, not to mention their adoration (most would say "worship" ) of the Virgin Mary (a goddess?) to whom they also attribute supernatural powers. So when I hear Christians touting the "one true god", I tend to cringe. Speaking of Catholic saints, did you know there's a patron saint for almost any human malady or condition you can think of. Just recently, I've been working on an essay about St. Fiacre, who (among other titles) is the patron saint of those suffering from venereal diseases and hemorrhoids! You just can't make this stuff up! Is there no end to the gullibility and irrationality of our species?

If you learn the history of how the Bible came to be you learn that it is based on a polytheistic pantheon and not a monotheistic religion. Once you do it makes a lot more sense.

try this, very well done.

It's even more ridiculous that God made the devil...

It's such bollocks.

Satan was supposedly God's highest angel that turned on him. Free will and all.

If one compares the Greco/Roman god, goddesses, etc. you'll find that the 'Saints' have the same basic attributes. The ancient gods had many attributes, the Saints only 1. All the Romans did was to disburse their gods ... and they're still doing it today.

The one Monotheistic God can then be shaped into whichever God happens to be needed at the moment. Need a God of love? We got that! Need a God of war? Hey, we got you covered!

Were you thinking that religious people were rational???

The Koran recognises three types of beings - God, men and jinns (genies).
I annoyed one street-preacher by saying to him "Oh, you believe in genies?" *smirking
He had to either deny the Koran or look like a credulous idiot so he just blustered off-topic.

When monotheistic writings claim the existence of other deities, it's a giveaway.

Granted, some of those writings came from a drunk who lived 900 years and sailed a ship full of animals until a bird told him there was land....

I though all those saints are employed by their god. And yes you can’t make this crap up. But yet they did ?

No is the short answer to your final question. The Catholics also have this 3 in 1 thing going on, monotheistic except for God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. I never did find anybody at (Catholic) school and/or church who came remotely close to giving me a plausible explanation.
I also agree with your thousands of patron saints point, my favourite is St Isidora patron saint of the internet! I don't think it is very different from the polytheistic Ancient Egyptians who had multiple gods for various aspects of their existence to just change god to saint. It probably made things more flexible to have a patron saint that the total veneration a god should get.
