To continue doing my part in promoting women's sports until we get to a point when female athletes receive the same recognition and pay as their male colleagues.

Also, to become Dictato... er, I mean, Benevolent Ruler of Earth.

Jnei Level 8 May 27, 2018

@Akfishlady Hmm. I could use a Minister for the Environment. Fancy it?

I find it strange that women's sports usually have shorter game lengths than men's sports. Examples:
College Baseball - women play 7 innings, men play 9 innings
Tennis - women play 3 sets, men play 5 sets
Basketball - women play 10-minute quarters, men play 12-minute quarters

I'm sure the list can go on. But it made me think, why is that? I'm sure men came up with these rules because they believed women would not have enough endurance to play as long as men do in the same sport, but why hasn't this changed? I feel psychologically (and this is just my opinion, I'm not sure if this has been studied), when people see that women's sports have a shorter game time than men's sports, it might cause people to think less of women and women's sports like less athletic and less important. What is your opinion about game length differences between men and women's sports? Do you think it has something to do with women receiving less pay?

Well don't be so hard on yourself, there is always an agenda somewhere somehow

@ProudMerry Are you sincere and absolutely unwilling to take bribes and give in to corruption?

@ProudMerry Then sorry, you're probably not what my government needs. Unless you're lying, in which case you're perfect and the job's yours 🙂

@joeymf86 You're absolutely correct - the various national sports federations still believe that female athletes don't have enough stamina to compete for as long, or over the same distances, as men. In fact, studies show that they can, and that women can maintain their stamina for longer - in ultra marathons, long-distance cycling and swimming, the performance of male and female athletes equals after a certain point. This is, of course, a major problem for women's sport - only allowing female athletes to compete in shorter events creates a misconception in the public mind that they're not as good as the men, so people think women's sport won't be as much fun to watch... and lower viewing figures put off potential sponsors, starving them of the money they need to develop.

@Jnei What makes me crazy is that women carry anther human being in their body for 9 months and then give birth to that human being! How could one ever think that women don't have the stamina, perseverance, drive or attitude to compete as well as men, in anything? Of course a lot of the falsehoods surrounding a woman's worth are as old as the ages and I would think come from male insecurities and of course that ever popular, good ole' religion.

Avoid prison.

To make someone smile

Goal achieved at least for today ???

5

To reach level 10 😉

Love it !! Sounds like mission impossible, doesn't?

5

contentment with a sprinkling of happiness

@germangirl90439 sure!

@germangirl90439 and that was the intent, get ideas from everyone !! Thanks for sharing and stealing is not only allowed but encouraged

To be happy...regardless of circumstances.

Even unknowingly at times, we all want that. Thanks for adding to the thread !!

My goal is: To survive next 2 1/2 years (plus 3 weeks) with this lunatic in the White House!

3

Am I supposed to have one ? Damn. Missed that memo.
Uhm. Drink more coffee.
That'll do.
☕

No, you don't have to. At least I can honestly say that I didn't mean it that way. Someone else already mentioned this one, so you are not alone. My comment is the same, not having a goal is a valid option too. It's a personal choice.

No harm meant.
I deal with a lot of people lamenting their inability to find meaning or purpose in life. Kind of a standard response that there doesn't have to be one. Life itself is enough. A rare chance at consciousness to use because you will lose it.

Generally, my goal is to be connected to others, and not just to the like-minded, but to try and learn from others, especially when I disagree with them or believe them to be misguided. I might be the misguided one.

Thanks !! Interesting !! I am going around this one now

3

I don’t have any.

That is an option too !!

@MARDUK

Love that owl.

Short-term: finish my gardens and enjoy friends, family and the year leading up to my son's wedding. mid-term: travel, write, draw, hike, indulge myself and all my senses. long-term: settle down to life with my son and his wife wherever they settle in the heart of her sprawling family. And if there are kids involved, happily help raise the kids and teach them to write and read and draw and garden and hike and hike some more and enjoy my time. Nice post for dreaming. 😉

To be happy and to serve others.....good advice from the Dali Llama (might not have spelled that right).

Right now they are:

  • Become proficient enough on the double bass to with a symphony or jazz band.
  • Speak another language somewhat fluently.
  • Stay fit and healthy so that I can continue to be active as I get older.

Those are the main ones. Thanks for posting! Helps to write them down.

And it helps to get motivational ideas from someone else too !!! Thanks a lot !!

I have dreams which seem unattainable. My goals are banal - losing weight etc.

Oh but it is attainable....I didn't say easy. Thanks for your contribution !!

2

Right now, just doing what I can to maintain my health. Everything else is really secondary, you can't accomplish anything if you are incapacitated by sickness or infirmity.

We are on the same boat. Thanks for your contribution

Let me see, today is Sunday...?....Monday!

Yeah my goals have become incredibly modest / unambitious too. I sometimes say that a good day for me means that I manage to take a good dump.

I think a lot of our angst / anxiety / depression comes from caring too much and trying too hard, or as the Buddhists like to say, attachment to particular outcomes. At some point I figured out that life is unkind to idealists and I quit caring about what is theoretically possible and got a lot more interested in what is pragmatically doable. Which, in practice, isn't much, when it comes down to it.

@Sticks48 Pretty good !! One day at the time it is !!

2

To set foot on all seven continents. 3 down, 4 to go.

Ozman Level 7 May 27, 2018

That's a big challenge... Keep on going and we will hope some day you'll break the news to let us know its been accomplished

2

To cause as little harm as possible and hopefully leave a few smiles in my wake. If they smile at my funeral I still win?

1

To live as I live without any Fucking Goals!

Great !! Thx

1

To retire from this Earth (die)

1

To leave the world one heck of a lot better than when I found it.

1

Right now, it's to keep my job until I'm ready to retire.

@Hermit Easier said than done now a days. I did stay within my comfort zone for 31 years until I got laid off. If you think it can happen then it will. You may want to look while still employed and leave on your own power. It's a tough call, I know.

1

To enjoy it.. build meaningful relationships and die a happy person

1

To meet my destiny, which is my death. No hurry getting there and for the most part, enjoying the ride.

1

To slide into home with nothing to spare.
