Years ago I met this wonderful woman and we liked each other. However I never pursued a relationship with her even though she made it clear that she liked me. The reason that I never got involved with her was because she was a very religious person. She is a good person, and we are still friends, and she got tired of waiting for me and went out with someone that she met in church and they got married. Some of the things that kept me from pursuing a relationship with her was after the 2000 presidential election where Al Gore lost. she told me that she did not vote for him because her pastor told her in church that Gore believed in Aliens and that he was not religious. She also believes everything her church people say even if it does not make sense. Her reasoning was that we should not question the word of god. I could not see myself arguing with her the rest of my life about the bible. She was always talking about god and the bible. Even though she is a good person at heart, I got frustrated with her lack of self awareness and her inability to think for herself. It is very hard to meet someone who does not believe in a mythical Super being. Can anyone here get pass that aspect of his or her significant other. I felt like I would be lying to myself to just pretend to believe in that myth just to be in a relationship. Has anyone here found it difficult or near impossible to be in a relationship with a theist even if that person is a good person.
It really just depends on the people involved I've gad relationships all of which were with religious people/belivers and honestly it never interfered with the relationship however ironically the one woman i was with that was an atheist was the worse. Her nind frame and ideals made it almost impossible to function as a couple
