It is pointless to formulate a theory without the facts.  Inevitably one starts to find facts to suit theories instead of theories to suit facts.

(My apologies to the makers of the Sherlock Homes movie if I misquoted that. I tried to pull it from memory, and my memory isn't what it used to be before my immune system went haywire).

In case you (or anyone else) hasn't seen the movie, the line is Holmes responding to Dr. Watson saying something like "you have to admit that a supernatural explanation is not outside the realm of possibility".
