It is pointless to formulate a theory without the facts. Inevitably one starts to find facts to suit theories instead of theories to suit facts.

In case you (or anyone else) hasn't seen the movie, the line is Holmes responding to Dr. Watson saying something like "you have to admit that a supernatural explanation is not outside the realm of possibility".
