This case was brought by a JW family that didn't want their kids to be forced to stand for the national anthem or say the pledge of allegiance on religious grounds. The Supreme Court ruled in the favour of human rights and freedom, striking down a previous ruling that upheld the legality of forced patriotism. Forced patriotism is exactly what Hitler was practicing, shooting or imprisoning dissenters if they failed to Zeig Heil to der Fuhrer or the Nazi flag, the Supreme Court wanted no part of that and neither did any of the other democratic nations. Now Trump wants to bring it back, typical.
My brother... you really don't have to do anything you don't want to. I'm just wondering what your point is? Are you trying to educate us on our rights or are you telling me you support those kneeling because they think the white people are persecuting the blacks and causing all their hardship, Missory, and everything they can dream up and blame the whites for? What's this all about?
I spent the first 10 minutes of every school day either sitting my my chair at my desk quietly while the other kids sang the National Anthem and recited the Lord's Prayer or standing out in the hallway until this forced travesty was over. Come recess, I usually got to fight some idiot who thought I was fair game because I was different because I didn't do what he did every morning. I know how hard it is to stick by what you believe in and fight for it when the other guy doesn't understand that you are just the same as he is, only different.
Trump telling the citizens he represents that they are criminals when the Supreme Court clearly says they aren't is a travesty, Trump works for the people and not the other way around. The same goes for the team owners who are trying to strong arm the players. Most importantly the same goes for anyone who wants to force blind obedience upon others because that's the road to fascism as the Supreme Court rightly pointed out back in 1943 when people were fighting and dying to stamp that shit out, not praise it.
@Surfpirate my brother... you have never lied? Hell... why submit to an ass whipping for taking that kind of a stand. Im Going to lie my ass off to keep from getting hurt. Theres no honor unless you can make it honorable and others appreciate your stand. Think about all those Christians that died because they didnt want to burn in hell. Well there ain't no hell so go ahead and lie. Most of us are living one anyway. Trying to prove something. I would really like to get over this and walk away but I had things happen to me when I went to war and I have to support my brothers that died over there to allow people to disrespect my flag, country, and anthem I pledged allegiance to. I can't stand using another cause to disrespect my anthem.
@BucketlistBob I hear where you are coming from and I get the importance of respect. I didn't go through all those years of school yard fights for the national anthem or the lord's prayer, saw through the religious BS early, but I did it because my parents insisted I do so and because it was my right as a free person to do so. About the only thing I learned from religion was that a person has to stick to their convictions if they are honorable, no matter how many shit kickings you get for doing so. I won my fair share but nobody wins every fight, 4 broken noses and too many black eyes to count but the point is that eventually most of the idiots backed off and a few of the good guys actually backed me up when it was two on one which happened a lot. Not because the good guys shared my point of view but because they respected my standing up against the odds.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything is something my dad always used to say - of course he also said fake for the smaller guy and then punch the bigger guy in the throat.
