I live on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast; cruise ships regularly are on their way up to Alaska or returning south These cruise the passage between Vancouver Island (Comox) and the mainland.
Forgot to answer that i have no wish to cruise. Tried it once but really didn't like it much. I prefer to be free to roam where the mood takes me, like on a road trip. LOL.
Surprise visitor? Not a tourist cruise?

A surprize yes, also a tourist cruise. But the big ones don't stop here, mainly because they're on their way up to Alaska and since we don't have a deep water docking facility, they would have to anchor and send people ashore by their small boats. The smaller ones sometimes do that.
Lovely! I'd rather be where you were, though, than crammed onto a ship with a thousand other strangers.
