Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that as TSA lines have gotten longer and airline seats gotten smaller, the number of inflight "incidents" has increased dramatically?

I know correlation is not causation, but...

Bring on the hyper loop trains, so we can avoid flying if we want too. I would think having more competition with super high speed trains will help with the people that want more leg room.

Not sure that's gonna help much on my next trip to Britain...

@moNOtheist Ofcourse it wouldn't. I think for extreme long distances they are probably going to be flying in low earth orbit at mach 25. "Boeing and Rolls-Royce invest in Reaction Engines, a British company developing a hypersonic propulsion system that's part rocket, part jet engine." [cnet.com]

I haven't flown for 11 years, and being 6'3" probably doesn't give me a right to complain, but the flights spent with my knees in passengers' backs before they reclined their seats.... I tended to end up on the floor so I could unfold enough to drink my watered down coffee.

Research has shown that the TSA has the lowest morale of any government agency, largely because of the low rates of pay and the crap they consistently receive from disgruntled passengers. As to the leg room on flights, it's definitely getting smaller as airlines try to squeeze in more rows of seats (last time I flew, I slid a paperback of average thickness into the pouch on the back of the seat in front and found that it touched my knees - there was no room to move my legs). Passenger advocacy groups are now saying that enough's enough - seatingt is at the point that the lack of maneuverability is presenting a serious safety risk, as passengers can no longer exit their seats quickly in the event of an emergency.

And American just started decreasing the restrooms on their 737s to only 2' wide. Yikes!

@jeshuey Two feet! Guess that scuppers the Mile High Club...

The airlines sure have reduced the quality of the flight experience, making seats too small and too close, charging extra for every tiny thing, etc... It's s powder keg up there!

Might want to factor in alcohol, too.

I have been flying for a very long time, and alcohol has always been available ... more so 30 years ago than now. It may contribute, but something more has to be afoot.

I am so glad that I love driving
