When I see them, I'm reminded of Matthew 6:5, a verse I also keep handy for door-to-door Thumpers: “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full."
Reminds me of the Christians I run into sporting large tattoos of crosses. “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28)
Classic faith (belief without evidence)
It's not just those with signs and a megaphone. There are some on this website that promote faith over reason. - - trying to reason with them is like trying to sweep sand off the shoreline.
I love Ambrose Bierce's definition of faith (from The Unabridged Devil's Dictionary): “Faith, n. Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel.”
Everytime I see someone with a Megaphone I give Megashit regardless of church, politics or social justice. I fly solo.
The religious guy with the megaphone is the main reason I always carry an airhorn. Even if I don't use it much, it really seems to bother these religious megaphone people every time I pull it out and give it a blast in their ear.
