This is a common composition error. Just because the universe CONTAINS intelligent beings doesn't make the universe ITSELF intelligent, or mean that there is some "overmind" that we all participate in. It doesn't mean that ISN'T the case of course but 100% of all available evidence currently (to anyone with decent evidentiary standards at least) points away from that hypothesis. Also, it's arguable whether that hypothesis is even falsifiable. How would you go about disproving that you don't have a mystical, supernatural connection with some imagined but as yet totally unknown consciousness field? We cannot evaluate things that aren't part of the natural world, so in practice there's no way to distinguish assertions about such things, from pure imagination.
