The Trump administration has ordered power grid operators to buy more electricity from dirty, polluting, inefficient, coal-burning power plants. Of all the fossil fuels, coal produces the most greenhouse gases per kilowatt of power. The atmospheric concentration of CO2 is already 25% above the highest levels reached over the last 800,000 years. Floods, fires, winds, heat waves, and droughts are already more severe than ever. And here is our President ordering doubling down on coal.
