I was planning a trip to Canada in the fall before my passport expires. Then I had the bright idea to check the expiration date.... oops. 07/22/18. Don't want to go in July. So, abandon Canada plan or renew passport. I'm likely going to renew. Or...

Always keep a valid passport. In the same way as you should always keep a reserve of fuel in your tank, candles in the house, etc.

Uh, you could renew your passport at any post office......

Most places won’t let you in unless it has 6 months left on it. What would they couldn’t send you home if you missed your flight on the day it expires. And some countries it is a year.

I saw that on the web site, and now that Canada and the US have strained relations...

Sure the Canadians would grant you refugee status. Don't need a passport for that!

That is a good point, however my heart in here in Omaha in two tiny people that I want to watch grow up.
