My wife has a fairly rare condition where at 59 she still has several of her baby teeth. One of these fell out and was replaced with an implant. It was a lengthy, multi-visit process and she would prefer not to repeat the experience. And this is from a dentist that's very well-regarded in our community, who does a thorough job of things.

Based on that I can't imagine how these clinics that advertise you can get all your teeth replaced in one day can possibly pull that off and do it right and without causing significant physical trauma. I've looked at their advertising (both to the public and to dentists) and reading between the lines I suspect they advertised that they can do it all in one day, but often can't, so it's just a way to get you roped in.

Caveat emptor.

You are right.

Debating it myself. I think I really can't afford it and my mouth is OK missing that one back molar anyway.

Mini implants, cheap (for an implant), they are sturdy, and look good. A family member of mine replaced their teeth and she loves that she did.

@DareBear what do you consider mini?

They are a type of dental implant called "mini implants"

@DareBear ok

it really just boils down to how much you like chewing. permanent is better than removable.

Root canal is hideously painful.

I have had 2 done I didn't find that to be the case, could be you need to find a better dentist. I do realize that some people do feel plan more than others, but did you have an abscise in it when they did it?

@HeathenFarmer it was years ago. Now have full top denture

I have had a few and also not found them painful. You do need to find another dentist

I don't need them, I have a surplus of teeth, but at 17 I was in a punch up, and had one knocked out, dentist screwed it back in, 10 years later I got an abscess under it, pain, real pain.

I would take into account how bad you need them right now. Current biotechnology is on the verde of growing you new real teeth that can be implanted in your jaw. If you do need them from what I know from family members who have them, once you get past the surgery and recovery they work very well.

id really like that

I am not into fake stuff but I hate false teeth so if/when I can I will get implants for sure. I would be realistic about the shade you pick. to me, there's nothing worse than super white teeth on an older person. the other thing is where you have it done. I think it's worth paying a bit more and looking around, even other countries.
