Every want that childhood pond to be yours?

Well.... Here it is..... unreasonably priced..... No water or sewage or electricity and next to the interstate with all that noise. Damn! Ild love to own it and put a little hidden camp there.

No, I never wanted a pond of my own, but their were ponds everywhere when I was growing up and none of the neighbors minded if we wanted to play in them.

Sulphur.. That's the name of the town?

Yes....

They originally mined Sulphur there.

They brought fuel oil in on barges, heated water and pumped it into the ground to disolve the sulphur, and then let the sulphur rich water that they pumped out of the ground evaporate leaving the sulphur sediment.

I have friends who live there. On their property there was a huge concrete cylinder that housed the pump where the fuel oil was unloaded from large barges brought up the river into smaller barges pulled by horses down a man made channel, out to the 'mining' fields. Thats where it was used to heat the water needed for the process. Pretty damn labor intensive The concrete cylinder in their property along the river could be closed up to protect the pump when the river flooded. The concrete cylinder has been filled in and now has a nice screened in gazebo on top, overlooking the river!
