Using “atheist”

Should the word “atheist” even be used? If so, should there be a word for everything we don’t do or believe? Should there be a word for someone who doesn’t ski?

It is sometimes important to designate your affiliation or non-affiliation with your surroundings for better understanding, compassion or safety. A non-skier at a ski resort has a different experience than a skier, a non-theist in a largely theist community has a different experience than a theist, a non-swimmer at a pool has a different experience than a swimmer...

There is a word for people who don't ski. "nonskier".

Sometimes, just sometimes one has to use more than one word. Like when your bottom hurts, ouch is not enough.
