I'm sure there are plenty. My kid is obsessed with WWII stuff, particularly persecution of the Jews. I watched a really good (I thought) and long "Rockumentary" on The Eagles. But they rose to fame and fortune during my lifetime.

There's a boat load of great ones on there, also look at the docuseries. The last 2 I watched that I found entertaining was Space Race and The Roman Empire.
