Tomorrow spring semester starts again. I am so not ready. You know when people say, "it's not rocket science" as a way to say something isn't difficult ? Rocket science is literally chemical engineering. I never thought I could struggle in school and now I'm failing classes. Talk about eye opening.
I remember hitting "the wall" when I got to college. The curse of being intelligent enough to basically walk through HS, never needing to study. Well, that's my excuse and I sticking to it.
I saw something today.
Why try to be perfect when you could be real.
Believe in yourself.
Where are you matriculating?
That's my exact problem. I never studied. Now idk how. University of Rhode island
@Holyhellkel You'll just have to Ram your way through! But I know what you mean. Did me the same way. But I got through. If a yutz like me can do it ... One day at a time. One class at a time. Don't get overwhelmed. Whelmed is OK.
FWIW, @Holyhellkel, when I first went to law school, I had sort of cruised through college. Good grades had come easy for me there, and I figured that I was able to handle any material with ease because I was so damn smart.
It turned out, everyone in law school was that damn smart. When first semester grades were posted, it took my breath away. I'd never thought of myself as having such poor grades. And I realized that I'd been using my senior-year undergraduate study habits, which were, shall we say, not the most diligent. So I had to step up my game.
I did, got very good grades the rest of my time in law school, and am proud of my overall transcript. But I needed reality to give me that firm, direct kick in the ass-essment in order to get me to up my game to where it needed to be.
I hope my story offers a lesson for you.
Ya all engineers are geniuses. It's overwhelming haha
There is a lot more to a rocket than just the rocket propellent. So, 'rocket science' is literally more than just chemical engineering.
Yes just like everything else there are many components but literally the propellant that makes the ticket go and not explode is chemical engineering. Why are you being a dick?
@Holyhellkel I wasn't trying to be a dick. Your statement "Rocket science is literally chemical engineering" is literally incorrect.
...struggle through the learning curve...remember, there really is such a thing! I once, felt that I was going to throw-up, in every math class! And, back then I did not understand it was anxiety! The anxiety, block my retention, so then I felt like a 'dummy'...which compounded the problem with learning math! Do relaxation before hard classes, it does help! Best of luck
Just remember that all things can be broken down into simpler elements to be dealt with in turn. Also, there are few who can stay ahead of a subject, few who can stay abreast, and the rest are in a constant catch up mode. The trick, if you find yourself in the latter group, is to not let all of it come at you at once. One thing at a time and stay focused.
Forgot to mention, there is no replacement for good lecture notes to supplement material in the texts.
Tomorrow is the start of classes for me,too. The difference is.....I'm standing at the front of the classroom, delivering lectures about Audio Art and Audio Science. Here is what I tell my students:
" In order to get a good grade in this class you need to do three things"
Way easier than Rocket Science.......
what is audio art?
@engineer_in_nj .....Audio Art is moving beyond an understanding of the science and math of Acoustics, the Electrodynamics of loudspeaker behavior, the minute details of Electronic circuit design and the operation of Technology. The Artistry involves combining the aformentioned fields into a seamless whole that can convey the music artist's message to an audience......hopefully eliciting an emotional response.......
Come on now do be down. You can do this. Focus focus focus. Just keep thinking how happy you will be when you accomplish your mission that's what I do. Ask your self how far did you get and how far you have to go. It seems your just fatigued. But you know the end of the Journey is the toughest part just like 3 mile run its harder at the end, and what do runners do run harder at the end. I hope I could give you some motivation. That brain of yours is magnificent if it got you this far. Keep up the pace. Good Luck.
It's been a 9 year struggle. I have 2 left and I'll be done. So I'm so close.
@Holyhellkel well these last two will probably be your hardest. Keep up the hard work. For me its like the third round of a fight. Your tired your beat up and you just want to relax but deep down inside you want to win. Keep up your pace you started with Graduation is just around the corner. 2 years you can make it. Make it or break it. I know you don't want to break it after 9 years. You can do it.
@ZoeZzonbie do you fight or was is a metaphor lol
@Holyhellkel I do fight when I can get a fight or find time to train for one. Yes I love mma, ju jitsu, kickboxing, boxing, I love fighting. I posted some pics on my page. Cage, boxing ring, beach ring, anywhere I'll fight as long as I get paid for it.
@Holyhellkel please delete after viewed video has my name in it.
@ZoeZzonbie thats amazing. I did bjj for a very short time. Idk how to delete the video
@Holyhellkel well in my opinion you should get back in it. Its good for you. And see how tired the third round was kept on going didn't give up even though i was tired and beat up in the third round I stuck it through and came out with smiles even though I lost. Just treat your school like you do bjj.
ps. you should really get back into it. bjj is good for the soul. Plus bjj girls are hot.
@ZoeZzonbie ya I should. I quit because I was doing mud races and as expensive as the races are I couldn't risk injury. But maybe this summer. Plus I can cast shop for bjj guys hahahahahha haha
