the problem with this study is that there was no "evidence" providedfor the participants to accept or reject or learn from or ignore, after being told what was or wasn't a daxxy. they had no reason to think they were being lied to, what they were shown and told presented no conflict with anything they already knew or believed... why shouldn't they just consider themselves to be learning about a new shape?

Beliefs are giant generalizations we make about life... That can't be blamed, it's how our minds have evolved over time. The problem is, beliefs are things we WANT to be true... and to that end, will go to great lengths to defend them.
