I saw an experiment where birds were fed by pressign a button which woudl distribute food based on a random number generator. What hapened is a lot of hte birds develops very elaborate rituals tryign to get the food pellet to drop when they pushed he button. (It really made me think of the originas of religious beliefs, but religions are basically ritualized superstitions).

Although humans are capable og rational thinking, too often decisions are still based on instincts and emotions which have no rational basis. Begin capable of rational thought does not automatically make us rational beings. We have a lot of evolutionary baggage to overcome before we can be rational.
