the "plan" mentioned for the senate to vote on two of the government-opening bills has indeed happened. one was a bill coming from the house and the other was a senate bill in which mcconnell extended his tongue to trump's gluteous maximus. neither bill passed; a half dozen republican senators joined the democrats in trying (unsuccessfully) to pass the former and trying (successfully) to kill the latter. consider this an update.
