Personhood at conception could lead to people having to petition the state to conceive. It's a slippery slope that could possibly lead to all children becoming wards of the state, because for practical purposes, no other entity can protect a child's basic human right to self-determination to the extent that the state can.

Also, if this kid is nineteen now, he was seventeen when his girlfriend terminated her pregnancy. He was a minor. This should not even be happening. In what world should seventeen years old boys have the right to dominate the bodies of their teenage girlfriends? Fucking ridiculousness!!!

In Rhode Island they just passed a measure that even if Roe vs Wade is overturned? They'll still keep abortion legal - and legal right up until whenever the woman needs it for medical reasons.

I hope all of New England is watching and that the other States catch on.

I didn't realize what New York was doing when they voted this way - now I get it. They won't go back. And I am all for that.

The world seems to be going mad. An unmarried teenager who got a girl pregnant is able to sue on behalf of the foetus which may have become his child if it had ever been born, and a judge deems this to be a legitimate case. The foetus is co plaintiff and has been given personhood, in the lawsuit against the Women’s Clinic which performed the abortion. This is horrific, it’s completely nonsensical, the next thing will be men suing women for taking the morning after pill, as they must be flushing away a potential person when this pill has the effect of preventing a fertilised egg from staying in the womb. Then it could get even crazier, and men could start suing their partners for taking the contraceptive pill, as that prevents the egg from being fertilised and his sperm is then wasted, Maybe the sperm will be given personhood by some crazy future legislation, and it could become the joint plaintiff ! This is all crazy talk of course, but it makes as much sense as a foetus having personhood!

For me its just a piece of snot.

@Jolanta With personhood status!

So, put all women who menstruate in prison? Where did human intelligence, in general, go? Maddening law suit for sure...

This kid is fucking clueless.

@mzbehavin, I once was one of those blind pro-lifers (until I went to my first rally, when I realized I was surrounded by crazy people, especially the men). I'm certain he thinks he's doing the right thing, but I'm equally certain that if he had been able to keep the baby with full custody, he'd be a mixture of clueless, overwhelmed, and regretful. Parenting is hard, and this kid has no idea. I seriously don't think this kid is smart enough to have made such a deal. Not that I don't think he will, should the opportunity present itself. Let's just hope it doesn't.

Women are already second class citizens. This kid wants to make us not third class, but slaves to his ideology because he believes that is his right. Talk about white male privilege. This kid's got it running through his veins.
