LINK Americans know literally nothing about the Constitution - CNNPolitics

Why does this not surprise me, and yet makes me sick to my stomach.

I actually knew very little about the constitution before joining this community... But I'm picking up some things here and there and googling some other things... Isn't this community great?! 😊

That is why I keep coming back.

Explains trumpers

Very troubling.

The last signer was Alexander Hamilton. Ben Franklin and Tomas Jefferson were the major contributors to the writing. James Madison was the president in charge at the thime. The right to procreate is touched upon several times. There was no precision included for non belivers. Slaves both white and black were considered a fraction of the value of a common citizen.

Jefferson was in Europe when the final version was drafted, which is why his name does not appear among the signees.

Madison is known as The Father of the Constitution for his major contributions, including ideology, framing, and authorship.

George Washington was still a year away from being POTUS when New Hampshire became the ninth and final state needed to ratify the Constitution and make it the law of the land.

I sincerely doubt 'literally' applies.

Need a brush up on international law, treaties, conventions and the like

Every year on the 4th of July NPR read the Declaration of Independence - ignorant republicans thought the left was planning to over throw the government, literally, huge uproar on facebook.
Stupid shit
Of course I am not surprised they know nothing about the Constitution. Sad, ill, angry yes.

The average American has the brains of a pissant m'lord!

I know a few people like this. They think I’m silly to follow politics.

I know more than a few. It's BIGLY sad.

@Ms_McSteven it’s scary how easy it is to brainwash someone. Your POV depends almost entirely on who you listen to!

My dad used to listen to Limbaugh in the 90s. He really hated Clinton. His dementia hit around the time Bush was president so we were spared any running commentary by Rush about 9/11 or the war.

American children aren't taught Civics any's 2 pages in their history books..arghπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘ΏπŸ‘Ώ

Every state has a Civics course as a requirement in a public high school, it depends on which state you live as to whether it's comprehensive or not. Some states don't require a formal test, ex. Texas. Some states skew academics to fit an ideology.

@Pamscwf1 like Texas's?
