The Guardian had a news article that said "The US needs to send a clear message that there is no excuse for a cruel, extensive and grossly disproportionate crackdown on Rohingya civilians."
No doubt, the world has major problems. Human rights problems. How involved do you think the U.S. should be in these problems?
Is it America's duty as a powerful nation?
Or, should they worry about problems at home first?
We’re the strongest and wealthiest nation the world has ever known. It’s our responsibility to help others. On the other hand, our economic system has rendered half our citizens poor or in poverty. We have plenty of shit to fix at home, but we can do both. War, however, needs to be scaled back
we used to be the strongest wealthiest nation. that was a while back. THe US needs to learn to play well with others
We should make our own country a great place to live, leading the world by example, and offering help WHEN and IF asked...
...which is logical from a business perspective, but there are no borders anymore, and international moneyed interest blurs the lines between small elite groups and countries. There is no solution without nationalizing money, localizing government, and ruthlessly cutting off the hands of those who pride themselves in nothing but long and far-reaching fingers.
And our government should help with climate change instead of doing the opposite!
America needs to stop wasting its money to maintain 800+ different military bases around the world and doing interventions in 7 different countries, 6 of which didn't even attack us. We could cut our military budget in half and still have the most powerful military in the world. Its all about money when it comes to the military. It's fucking sad how our military is used.
I think by trying to act as the world's democracy policeman the US makes itself more unpopular than it needs, and would have more influence if it minded it's own business more.
If we cannot care for house employ and provide for the needs of our own we need to stay out of other peoples needs we can't feed a starving person on the streets of our own country
