LINK Deputy Zachary Wester charged with planting drugs on drivers in Jackson County, Florida - The Washington Post

Again with FLORIDA! This is a cop gone rogue in a very, very, destructive way. This dude randomly planted METH on the people he stopped! He destroyed lives. I hope he rots in jail.....no excuses for this sort of behavior, absolutely none! (But y'all know how it goes. He'll find Jesus, no doubt, and literally wipe the slate clean......)

Probably going to be expensive because of lawsuits too.

I wonder how many people are in prison now thanks to this worthless prick. They must get a bonus or they are just evil.

I do respect the DPS (state troopers) in Texas. I have no respect for the city police or sheriffs departments. When the so called good cops protect the bad cops, it makes them bad cops too. FUCK'EM!

It is getting really scary that just when you are back to trusting the law enforcement people, that you hear about this...shame that the bad apples really do affect the whole group...I think I will be traveling with my phone ready to video anything...seems that is the only way to protect yourself. Can a citizen demand that the police officer turn on their body or auto cams?

@SeaGreenEyez We have an awesome state troopers unit in our township. Young men that grew up around our neighborhood. Sensible, fair, hard working and a vital part of our community...so yes, in my community, we do trust and honor our law enforcement. They have worked hard to learn more about diversity and to deescalate bad situations...the entire community got together to address many issues when the news was reporting the quickness of police shooting black men...we all wanted to see what we could do to prevent that as much as we can...I bake banana bread and cookies for the weekend crew...

@thinktwice When you bake the cookies, don't forget to include 420, make them happy!

@SeaGreenEyez

There was a shooting of a white man by a white female cop that resulted in her being fired....

Our Police Commissioner is also a black man...so yeah, we are all vested in our community...

Black or African American: 51.86%
White: 33.77%
Asian: 5.02%
Other race: 4.76%
Two or more races: 4.23%
Native American: 0.33%
Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander: 0.04%

@zesty It is a misdemeanor in our state...we are more concerned with road rage and other drugs...

@SeaGreenEyez I totally get what you are saying...and yes, the stats are dismal...but I also think that each member in the community can do more than just turn a blind eye to this...those who support the police do not do it out of blind following but because we have made them do things to reassure us that our community and police force are working together...

People like to throw out the worse and I am just presenting a positive outcome that is attainable...you can either complain, worry, bitch, whatever all you want, but if one is not willing to do something, wha will change?

To answer your question: no, our police force is about 11% black ...like many police forces, we have problems recruiting viable candidates for a myriad of reasons, including lack of interest, criminal records, drug problems, educational problems...we have a task force working on this for the 2020 recruiting year...

The officer was charged and a jury dismissed the case. The family sued and that case was settled out of court.

It is still not fair and still needs work...I am working on it with my fellow community members...are you?

@SeaGreenEyez yes, it does...many of our systems need to be overhauled...but until then, we do what we can...thanks!

@thinktwice lol
