Lots of material has been written about it. I am positive that my female dog dreams and even has nightmares so it not even a human only thing. I lke dreaming especially when I can fly. I guess dreams are a way to keep our mind healthy.

We don't dream; it is Nature that dreams within us.

It's the way the brain entertains itself & sorts through all those uncomfortable feelings & stories memories while the meat wagon sleeps

Because ,,,,,,,there is nothing else to do when you're sleeping?

Mostly because things are always on our minds in some form and the brain is never really asleep.

Dreaming is when hidden desires, lurking in the subconscious mind, come to the fore. Nightmares are when hidden fears emerge to disturb our slumber.
