I was catering in the late 70's when the crab rangoon craze started again. The recipe I used was : 3 cups cream cheese, 1 cup minced crab (usually canned), 2 tbsp Lea and Perrins, 2 tbsp lemon juice, salt and white pepper. Used a melon baller for a scoop, put it in the middle of a wonton, wet the edges and form into a pyramid. Deep Fry, serve with soy sauce and sweet and sour.

Actually, it's an arachnid.


I have yet to have a crab Rangoon that had any crab in it!!!

Oh, I have but only at more high end restaurants.

I found a place, recently, that had lump meat in it. They had shrimp in their toast too.

I love Crab Rangoon but only the savory kind. I make them as well. My fav is cream cheese, real crab, green onion, garlic and a dew drops of soy sauce, mix well, stuff in wonton wrapper and deep fry. I like hot mustard with my duck sauce.

If a restaurant serves them sweetened I won't eat them.


I have seen those dishes in the past I just did not recognize the words until I had opened the web page. The first one is a wonton I have had them with lobster in them the other is basically a lamb dish.
