LINK Texas judge’s gift of Bible to Amber Guyger draws complaint from atheist group

What was the true purpose of this gesture? Was she saying that the person was godless? Was it a gesture to help her through upcoming troubling times? She could purchase her own bible while in prison. There's also one in the chapel. What say you? Was it appropriate? Yea or Nay?

It was definitely NOT appropriate for the judge in the case to show preference to Christianity, or any faith, by giving the defendant a buy-bull. It would be okay for the judge to do this when she is out of the courtroom and out of her judicial robes as a private citizen but not as acting as an official of the court! This is a violation of the separation of state and church (First Amend.)!

Does not bother me. She will have lots of time to read it. I wouldn't suggest socializing with the general prison population.

She should seek it on her own if she WANTS to read it. It shouldn't be given to her as a suggestion that it will help.
