His previous trial ended with a hung jury -- apparently a result of 'jury nullification' (I didn't see the nullification part mentioned in this news article, just the hung).
CBP has decided it is worth the expense to retry him and to try to maximise their chance of conviction has filed and was approved a motion to ban Trump's name from the retrial. Trump's name is just too polarizing.

That's an interesting thought.
I imagine that a lot of, if not most, jurists firmly dislike jury nullification. Is this judge biasing the court's decision?
