What is the issue with Communism? Why is it such a 'bad guy'?

I never really understood why there is such animosity b/t the two systems - Capitalism & Communism?

Most of those opinions are formed without reason.

@atheist Most people don't know the meaning of the terms. If you don't know the terms you cannot reasonably decide whether its good or bad.

True Socialism has never existed, what is generally called Socialism / Communism is technically known as State Capitalism. State Capitalism has all of the constituent parts of capitalism e.g. Money, a ruling elite etc. but it is simply controlled by a central state apparatus.

The idea of communism is great but it has to apply to everyone with examples set and led by its leaders. Furthermore how it's applied. You can't force it on anyone.
Kill one of my family members that's against the idea and I have just converted to a rebel.
Communism up to date has only been used to install a new aristocracy and usually by force.

Because everytime it has been tried it ended in dictatorship, executing all political opponents (including many intellectuals, see Stalin's Purges), Cults of Personality, the Gulag, Secret Police Forces (KGB/NKVD), and starvation. This, however doesn't say anything about fully functioning systems such as democratic socialism. Capitalism is not without it's problems either--the USA had Japanese Internment Camps, for instance. Honestly I dislike them both lol.

Communism is the bad guy because it is anti-freedom. It reserves the right of ownership to itself. It owns the fruits of everyone's labor, and all their property. It destroys the natural human desire to produce and feel pride in accomplishment and in earning something for themselves.

Capitalism is grossly misrepresented by just about everyone these days. Capitalism is the voluntary exchange of values to mutual benefit. All of the attention being given to "income inequality" is nothing more than an attempt to drive us (as in the US) to socialism and to justify the "redistribution of wealth" (translation = theft). This is patently wrong, IMHO. Are there CEOs out there who do not earn what they make? Yes, and they are the ones who get all of the attention. However, there are many, many more who do, and who are responsible for successfully managing their companies to the benefit of all. They provide affordable products that benefit everyone and jobs.

One thing that everyone seems to have lost sight of, or perhaps never understood to begin with is that Capitalism is the engine that has driven the world. It is singlehandedly responsible for raising the standard of living everywhere it is practised. Crony Capitalism is a horrible binding of the government and some businesses (through regulation, favoritism, tax breaks, etc.) that has hurt Capitalism and provided fuel to Socialism (Communism lite, if you will). Very curious to see how my comments will be received here.

The current healthcare issues are not the fault of Capitalism. The triad between providers, insurance companies and the government is NOT capitalism. Prices billed by healthcare providers to insurance companies are not based on actual costs, they are grossly inflated in the hope of getting as much as possible. This is fantasy, not reality.. A truly capitalist healthcare market would constantly strive to improve efficiencies, quality and care of service and drive down costs (and therefore prices). Going to socialized medicine would ultimately fail. I believe socialism/communism is unsustainable. As I mentioned in my original response, Capitalism is nothing more than voluntary and mutually beneficial trade between two entities. How can that possibly evolve?

Communalism ie communism is the economic system by which wealth should be controlled & redistributed by the state, by the government. A saying in the Soviet Union was "I pretend to work. They pretend to pay us." So in Cuba everyone who is not involved with the black market gets a check from the government. Because competition is twarted improvements & inovation become stagnant. Human nature defeatedthe concept of communism. We may be equal but we are not equivelent. Some occupations should be compensated more than others. Teachers more than movie actors. This then is the failing of capitalism which says that those that compete & win shall be compensated at the expense of those that can not or will not. Both are flawed & evolving.

Its because it's broken before it begins. ants and termites are true communists from the lowest smallest worker to the queens. they all take what they need and not what they want without exception. they all work towards the common good of the whole colony. you can't really say Stalin did that by any stretch of the imagination or Kim Jong Ill now. queen ants/termites don't live in luxury while the weakest get completely exploited and murdered. they lay thousands of eggs a day and can't move. what I don't understand is why its anyone else's business is if a people want to be communist by choice. surely your society has to be perfect before you even think about someone else's.

True comunism is not a bad thing. A kibbutz in Israel is probably the closest model. Everyone rotates jobs and has responsibilities.

Soviet/Chinese Communism was enforced in a Draconian manner. If you consider the Northern European style Socialism, you will find that it has enabled the highest standard of living on Earth...despite the Republican, Corporate instance that Socialism and Communism are the same.
