In Arkansas it was just the Sheriff.
In LA County it was at least a half dozen people including the Sheriff and his top deputies.
When we had a special election because the Sheriff had to resign, I had irrefutable evidence that the person elected to replace him was involved in the exact same types of crimes that the Sheriff had just been convicted of. Local news outlets refused to touch the story.
