This should start a nice little food fight.
If at all Bernie is nominated, get ready to face this because is almost guaranteed to happen:
SO MY QUESTION TO VOTERS IS... WHY TAKE A CHANCE WITH WEAK BERNIE?
If you're so certain he won't be reelected, why are you wasting your time on all these posts?
Maybe you should be promoting the candidate you think can actually win.
You're so... so...
Saran Wrap.
Transparent.
Thank you for sharing the article. It is very relevant to the primaries, the candidate and the mania currently going on called "Bernie-O-Rama".
The truth is not pretty. But Bernie followers only want to hear adorable news that supports their position to feel good about themselves. I have known that Bernie has nothing to show for his 29 years in Congress, not in his early years in politics totaling to over 50 years. Nobody can remember a single legislation he wrote and could call a signature issue in his entire career. But people vividly remember that he supported the clause to prevent lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
If Bernie really cared for his cause of economic equality and social justice, he could have many things in his 50 years. For example:
Bernie's a fear monger. He keeps ranting about punishing the rich, taxing the rich but does not talk much about why he needs 4 homes and is among Millionaires and Billionaires.
Bernie is not a uniter. He is huge polarizer. He has polarized Democrats across the nation that he intended to lead. I am hoping that Bernie is kicked out by core Democrats and the Party makes a rule from rogue candidates like Bernie from running on the Democratic Party platform. Enough of this wild circus.
Actually Bernie does have some accomplishments, just nothing close to what he's claiming he can do.
He's shifted the narrative, which is crucial. But he's done it like an activist instead of a politician.
@1of5
Yes, I admit. Bernie has forced the Democratic Party to talk about the economic and Social Justice. But by running for president, he has done the biggest damage to the cause and the Democratic Party in the last 7 years. We will not recover from it in 2020 at least. Bernie has given plenty of ammunition to Trump and the conservatives to scare Americans with Bernie's socialist talk. Bernie has made it easier for Trump to win in 2020. Bernie is a lousy candidate with good arguments.
Why does Bernie keep fighting for all the things he believes in, against such ardent opposition?
Ending slavery and segregation, women having the right to vote... I mean, no one in history got anywhere fighting for what's right.
Why are they blaming him and not the people who are blocking his efforts?
Liz should stop sucking on all those sour grapes. It's making her face shrivel up, but I suppose it's hard being in the company of such greatness, while also in last place.
Bernie is giving an impression that he is fighting because he wants to be president. If he really cared for the cause he could have helped create a movement from the grass roots since early on.
"create a movement from the grass roots since early on. " That's exactly what he did.
@RoboGraham
LOl, no, he did not. I have been watching politics closely for 33 years but never heard what Bernie wanted. You want me now to research Bernie and learn what he really meant? Read what I wrote above. Bernie could have done many better things for help his cause but he chose the worst path to do it... running for president. There could not be a worse messenger for his message.
Ending slavery and segregation, not done by a lone congressman and jesus, the prices paid
women having the right to vote... not done by a lone congressman
I mean, no one in history got anywhere fighting for what's right. without allies. Thats the point.
@Athena 45 million is peanuts in this game.
I am using my head. Use yours more and your heart a little less. Sinner throws bombs but the underlying points are sometimes there. Bernie has a great chance at repeating the Carter issues - great ideas but no way to get them implemented in congress. Thats a real, non ignorable issue.
@Athena
I give you sources of information with my posts and you still blame for no reason.
My intention is to save Democracy and the Democratic Party from invaders and rebels like Bernie who may have a good argument but a bad approach to presidential election. It is hurting our cause and handing over an easy re-election to Trump in 2020.
What did I do wrong?
@1of5 said it mildly. The fact is that Bernie will not be able to get anything done in Washington just like he could not get anything done in 29 years. Darth Vader aka Mitch McConnell is waiting right there in the Senate to neuter Bernie from Day 1 but Bernie does not want to talk about it.
All he is saying is.... Elect me, those Millionaires and Billionaires, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.... urgh
@St-Sinner My intention is to save Democracy and the Democratic Party
Save the Democratic party, why? IMO they need to be split. Democracy won't be saved in keeping the 2 party system alive. The 2 party system has been quietly destroying it for decades and needs to go.
We have a messy, fucked up, easily rigged system that Bernie could have gone an awful long way to correct - a couple years ago.
@St-Sinner shit, if I knew that I'd be running for pres myself. We'll have an alternative to Trump no matter what, though, although we won't be able to put "good" in front of alternative.
In my dream scenario Bernie is on the ballot in the general as a viable 3rd party option. He sucks enough electors so no one gets 271 and the vote goes to the house - and here's the importaint part - the dem reps and reps from Bernies party have to hammer out a deal of concessions to elect the president.
No one gets everything they want. I believe in systems where that happens it's called a dictatorship.
@1of5
So, isn't that the same as a brokered convention where the Democratic Party negotiates with Bernie to accommodate his demands in the Party's agenda and possibly promises him a position in the cabinet?... although a victory against Trump is very unlikely in 2020 unless Coronavirus does him in.
@St-Sinner no, that's actually how the system is written into the constitution. Also, nothing prevents repubs reps from joining into the coalition.
It also doesn't end when the convention is over. The pres knows excately who voted for them and what it took to get those votes. (S)he would need to consider the views of both parties when making/implementing policy.
It's far from perfect but it's what we've got, barring a long overdue constitutional convention (which would be a clusterfuck with just 2 parties.)
@1of5
Are you paying attention?
The 2 billionaires, bloomberg and Steyer spent the most money. Bernie came in 3rd raising more than any of the others who all accepted corporate money.
45 million is not peanuts when you add up all the people who donated $18 or less.
You boys are really entertaining.
I guess we'll all see.
@Athena oh my gosh your right! We only need another 20 million people to donate to raise what Bloomberg has already spent!
This election cycle will cost a billion + per side. You need over 55 million people at 18 bucks a pop to raise that. But I'm the silly one who doesnt understand money. Riiiight.
“Sen. Sanders is not a team player,” one former lawmaker told The Daily Beast. “He is an ideologue, he is rigid, he is inflexible—he has a point of view that is locked down, and it’s not going to change; he’s not interested in compromise.” - sounds about right especially having read the rest. It also sounds like many of his ideologue supporters after HRC won the nomination. Yada yada yada President Trump. Yada yada yada two more Republican SCOTUS appointments, yada yada yada Roe vs. Wade on the line, etc. etc. etc.
Don't get me wrong, I support most of his ideas, even donated to him early in 2016, but the reality is until Democrats have a crushing majority in both houses - probably not in my lifetime and definitely not his - almost nothing he wants to do is possible. So he'll be stuck with Obama and Trump style executive privilege actions temporary chipping away at a few issues, and not much else. And without getting ride of Moscow Mitch his SCOTUS appointments probably won't ever see the light of day either.
Correct. I have also read about this. Thank you for sharing.

Bernie has not explained how he will get things done, get bills passed in Washington with Darth Vader Mitch McConnell standing in his way ready to neuter him from Day 1. Bernie's slogan is just elect me and I will give you the world. Who thinks here that Washington will pass his $30 Trillion Dollar spending?
