A MEGADROUGHT is likely to emerge in southwest North America driven by climate change. This is scary.
Right now we are experiencing more of what we had - wet winters with very dry summers. Last year was an anomaly and was a wetter, cooler summer than normal. According to the Climate Change predictions area will experience increasing amounts of what they already have. Still, a concern since this is a forested area composed of 2nd and 3rd growths.
The dailymail is a bit of an iffy rag BUT the water issues of the west are WELL documented and this should be a real concern for America. But it won't, not until it becomes a crisis.

Always take the Daily Mail with a pinch, make that a full packet, of salt. It sells sensationalism, not balanced news.
Thanks @Petter I did not know they were a tabloid.

The Daily Mail has been widely criticised for its unreliability, as well as printing of sensationalist and inaccurate scare stories of science and medical research,[13][14][15][16][17] and for copyright violations.[18] It is treated as unreliable as a source for articles in Wikipedia
Having dealt with western water issues this article should not be dismissed. This is a desert area and there literally is not enough water for all who want some. The movie Chinatown which deals with the Owens Valley water rip off is pretty accurate.
@silverotter11 But not in its sensationalised form. Almost the whole is Spain is arid. It hasn't collapsed into a dustbowl because it is husbanded, with legal limitations on monopoly ownership.
@Petter Well, you know Americans. Trust me sensationalised really works for the stupid among us. We had a situation here in my county that finally was settled in the WA State Supreme Court, we won, the county was infringing on senior water rights. Western water law says first in time first in line. Here in Kittitas and Yakima Counties that means the Native Peoples own the majority of the senior water and you can bet that pisses off some white folk. They (white folk) have a better idea and the wild west mentality still rules, it's also very difficult to tell a fool anything. Til you actually see and hear people in an uproar over water you'd think that article was sensationalised, it really isn't. Back in 2005 we had a drught and the city of Roslyn was due to have it's water cut off because it did not have a senior water right. The high development at the north edge of town 'loaned' the city a waterright until it could purchase it's own.
