Yes,

It seems most of us respect living things, especially when they are older and have been able to survive for so long!!!

That fisherman should be thanked for being a true human and sportsman!!!

stunning... and reassuring. Not everywhere or everything is too poisonous to sustain life on a long term basis after all. Thank you for the cheerful news! Glad he let Brutus go back to his river! Especially as catfish are very good eatin' when caught fresh! That was quite a sacrifice on the part of the fisherman. lol

We need to keep this genetic stock out there in the water. We humans have been taking the lunkers and that is causing the genes to favor the smaller fish. Unsustainable.

Catfish above 7lbs tend to be fatty. I caught one that was 8lbs once and it was so greasy and it tasted strange. They are best eaten in the 2-5lb range. I used to live there and the best I could do was 13lbs. Strictly catch and release.

Good for him - and he gets the chance to catch that massive bottom feeding river troll again another day. In a year or two it could be 100 lbs! But catching it on 50 lb line - impressive.
