Yes, it is a good thing, but there is still a lot of work that needs done at the community level in places where this is practiced. People's cultures don't change simply because the laws do, the culture often just goes further underground. Sigh.

I agree, HC. HOWEVER....maybe you remember when Jehan Sadat made it illegal in Egypt...and wound up having to leave the country. As long as Muslim men like the idea of women without a sexual urge...Muslim women will support doing it to their daughters.

How can a few people overcome centuries of custom when religion's behind it...especially when speaking in public/demonstrating against it can get you killed?
