The B-29 which dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima on 6 August 1945 was Enola Gay. On 9 August 1945, another B-29 called Bockscar dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki.

There was a guy who was in both cities when the bombs dropped. There's a video on Netflix about it. Its title is Twice.

@PhilipT Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I've been to the Peace Park in Hiroshima, it's a really lovely place. I've also seen the Enola Gay at the Smithsonian in Washington DC, which was a bookend to the experience.

The earth is NOT flat.

Now you tell me! 😛

The human digestive tract contains taste buds, presumably for the purpose of mitigating moderate poisoning (as the stomach holds back bitter foods, slowing absorption into the bloodstream, and the lower intestine will trigger rapid voiding if there's an especially bitter substance present, expelling anything that may be harmful as quickly as possible).

A pig's orgasm can last up to 30 minutes.

Who you calling a pig?!

Some guys have all the luck.

@buzz13 Pigs, I doubt any human could last that long.

@Sarahroo29 I can dream can't I, if there is reincarnation I want to come back as a pig.

@buzz13 Bacon!!

Look up edging lol !

@Nickbeee Look up "snorting dragon" on Urban Dictionary. Or Google.

@Nickbeee Lol. Ew.

@Sarahroo29 you are wrong, girl, wroooooonnng

@Sarahroo29 wrong, very wrong,..........

who studied that?

@btroje Pigs? Idk or why? Lol.

@AnneWimsey Lol.

@AnneWimsey No one is a pig.

@AnneWimsey How am I wrong? I've read it somewhere in different places?

@btroje A male pig's ejaculation is measured by minutes, whereas men's is in seconds.

@Sarahroo29 LMFAO errr no ... orgasm control ... the art of making orgasms last fucking ages lol !!! 😉 hours! not minutes lol. It's a case of holding back when you should come then building it back up.. then holding back . .eventually you get stuck in a state of ecstasy .. you are welcome !

[en.wikipedia.org]

@Nickbeee No thanks. A few seconds is okay for me. I don't need to walk around for hours all hot and bothered. Lol.

@Sarahroo29 I've dated some women who wouldn't mind doing that

@buzz13 Awkward!

@Sarahroo29 I have no idea about the pig, and all the men I have known ("and we are way up in double digits here"...Bette Midler in that movie with Shelley Long, lol) are just normal.. I however invested long ago in a plug in vibrator because nobody makes good enough batteries!

@AnneWimsey Mine recharges on a USB cord. 5 different vibration modes and water resistant. Pink too.

@Sarahroo29 i have envy...pink!

@AnneWimsey The porn store has them for $30. External one.

In 1812, the Mississippi River flowed backwards due to severe earthquakes in Missouri.

One of my great-great-tothewhateverest Grandfathers, who lived near New Madrid, was interviewed by a newspaper when those quakes happened. I have a reprint of the article in my possession, proof we've been in this area for over 200 years. I am an official hick.

the only natural lake in Kentucky, Reelfoot, was formed by that quake and I think church bells in ? Philadelpha rang because of it. Everyone is focussed on the San Andreas but the New Madrid fault is something to consider too

Here is a little fact that even a lot of WW2 historians don't know:
[militaryhistorynow.com]\

TL😀r version: Joseph Goebbels decided to make a film that would rally people to help Nazi Germany become victorious. Shooting started in January of 1945. Shooting went on until April of 1945. Nazi Germany surrendered in May.

Can you imagine the sheer madness of such a thing? The nation was being bombed to rubble, and these filmmakers were running around, trying to make a propaganda film. And the final iron:every day the director would greet the cast with "Life is good, isn't it?" And they'd reply (with some degree of irony) "It sure is!"

Alexander the Great is said to be the greatest militay general who ever lived... and he was gay. I ronically, because his lover, Hephestian fell in battle, and many wanted to curry favor with Alexander by producing statues and likenesses of Hephestian (many 100's of likenesses and staues), we have a much better idea of what Alexander's lover, Hepestian looked like than we do of what Aleander nimself looked like.

The fluffy hairy bits in a Cat's ears are called "Ear Furnishings" and a group of kittens is called a "Kindle".

I know some people, especially older ones, whose ears could well be called "furnished".

@TerriCity Excellent!!!! lol.

Duck-billed platypuses and spiny anteaters are the only mammals that lay eggs.

There are estimates of the number of cells in the human body ranging from 1,000,000,000 to 10,000,000,000, and roughly 10% of them are human.

This has since been updated to more close to a 1:1 ratio. Still really interesting though!

Whoah, whoah, whoah... I'm a big biology fan here... what's all this now? I think your figures are actually wayyyy low. Are you talking about the microbiome and the various symbionts and parasites that proliferate throughout our form? Without considering any passengers, just primate genetic material, our present estimate is 37.2 trillion individual cells in the human body (37,200,000,000,000). So how many bacteria and such like? Well, There is an old model (only 5 years old, but this science is moving fast) that shows 10:1, but as Mea was pointing out, current research is showing 1:1 ... or actually... even higher! There are apparently more bacteria than human cells in our average human bodies... present estimates at 39 trillion. Of course prokaryotic bacteria are significantly smaller than the eukaryotic cells that comprise our tissues, so our cell mass is still 97-99% percent endogenous material.

@Anemynous I saw the 10,000,000,000 figure in a Discovery magazine article, and a range of numbers from 250,000,000 (which was the extreme low by a wide margin) to about 10,000,000,000 on the internet. Evidently my information is obsolete, but it has been a while since I looked it up.

@JimG Yeah, these fields are moving fast right now. We might have new information tomorrow... lol.

Curiously, the scale of atoms : cell is somewhat in the ball park of the ratio of cells : body. I think you have to count all of our "passengers" to get there though...

3

Information is usually associated with order, and entropy is associated with disorder, but actually they're one and the same. At the very least, they are directly proportional to each other.

Another interesting one: Black holes aren't completely black. They're thought to emit what is now called Hawking Radiation. This is seen as a faint glow at the edge (also known as the event horizon). The energy for this radiation comes from the mass of the black hole. This means a black hole can evaporate away and vanish.

There is a 2500 year old mushroom spreading through a forest in Oregon killing trees as it goes...it's like 3000 acres big now. It's the "largest living organism" on the Earth.

3

Some animals have a bifurcated penis. Most mammals have a penis bone called a baculum.

Snakes have two (penises... peni? peens?) ... and they are barbed.

@Anemynous they're called hemipenes 🙂

Part of the static you hear on the radio/on the telly is leftover radiation from the Big Bang. Look up "Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation."

The Equal Rights for Women Amendment is short of ratification in the US by two states. For an amendment to take effect, two thirds of the states must ratify.

I was just thinking about that the other day. Do you recall the states? I thought it was a done deal but if they changed their mind could that still happen?

Which states? I mean, Texas, obviously (j/k) ... who else?

Air conditioning systems only remove moisture from the air, the byproduct is cooler air.

Rainbows are beautiful, but they tend to disappear before you can take many photos – but when one appeared in Yangmingshan, Chinese Taipei on 30 November 2017, it remained for an unprecedented 8 hours and 58 minutes.

heard about that
