I'd only go to the movies if the theater staff were wearing masks and taking proper precautions and the theater was not crowded or the number of people allowed in each theater was greatly limited.

. . . what about the HVAC system ?

@FearlessFly never designed for germ control! Like any other indoor venue, a Bad idea!

This really sucks for me 🙁
I have missed my movie nights . I go every other Sunday , some x every Sunday for last 13 yrs if I am in town .
To me , cinema is a gift . I go alone , man , I pack all my snacks , Nutella , even spaghetti if I feel like cooking . Big screen is magic . And “ previous Jerry , previous ! “.
I missed cinema very much 🙁

I'm sure not going!

There is a reason airlines went from almost totally recycled air to full cabin air replacement every 2-3 minutes, even though it reduces fuel efficiency and Casinos that used to scrub the air and recycle most of it, now cool outside air and pump it by the ton into the gambling floors even though it is much more expensive. I don't see movie theaters being able to make that massive an investment. So just like before the pandemic, I won't be going back anytime soon.

theaters would make me nervous. the drive-in sounds a lot better.

It kind of kills me because I love going to the movie (and stage) theater and used to go every couple of weeks ... until now. I wish one of the drive-ins would open near me.

@Lauren maybe you could set something up in the front yard. jk.

@hankster Once the weather cools (we're in the 90s right now), I might plan a socially-distanced movie night in my backyard, maybe on mattresses. Not the same as lounge chairs and a big screen, but it might do. Hmmmm ....

@Lauren sounds like fun. might wanna check on what it cost to rent a porta potty.

@Lauren would u marry me , pls ?

@Lauren a blast is to be had! bean bags?

@Pralina1 & @hankster I love you guys - and bean bags are a consideration. 🙂

@Lauren woohoo! 🤗

Any movie I haven't seen is not an 'old' movie. 😛

I watch more movies that anyone I have met. I check them out of the local library -- we all have already paid for them. I haven't been to a movie theater in 20+ years.

IMO, any 'good' movie will/should still be good years later, otherwise I haven't missed much. 😮

I like that: "Some people really do need to go to the movies."

Wha? No. No, they do not. And I won't be, either. It's totally illogical to believe it's safe.

illogical seldom stopped me. I can be stupid at the drop of a hat.

@hankster Well sure, if it's the fun, break-out, rebellious kind of illogical, I'll see you there.

Nope. I avoided them BEFORE COVID though, as any time I'd attend at least one member of my party would get sick. Every darned time! Nasty places.

they are sticky.

@hankster I know! I shudder to think about it. I try to time my movie viewing when no one else is in the theater. Every time, if people come in late, they ALWAYS sit right behind me, ESPECIALLY if they are coughing, going to kick or put their feet on the seat in front of them, or going to talk/use their phone throughout.

I watch at home a lot. Am healthy most of the time.

@Zster makes me want to bring a can of fart spray or something.

No! It's just like any other indoor venue with shared air space. The tiny virus particles can float through the air, suspended for a while. They aren't always contained within larger droplets. I would not chance it, even with a good mask and goggles.

Not yet
